Sommer Miranda is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned a Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California. She has over 10 years of clinical experience providing individual, family and group therapy to address a wide range of mental health concerns. With special interest in working with adolescents and adults her primary focus areas are in treating symptoms related to trauma, anxiety, depression, behavioral outbursts, parenting skills, foster and adoptions, abuse, neglect, mood disorders, and phobias.

Sommer’s practice style focuses on a client-centered approach while creating a safe space to help individuals identify his or her best self, and to discover a real sense of purpose in life and hope for the future. Sommer’s passion for her work is deeply rooted in the idea that transformation is possible and she strives to help individuals meet their goals and to reach their full potential. In relationships or families, this too can be realized as each individual learns new ways of relating with one another with the goal of greater acceptance and ways of contributing to each others well-being.

Each individual responds to treatment in his or her own unique way. Sommer utilizes techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Behavioral Therapy, Art therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Trauma Informed Therapy and Mindfulness to provide the appropriate treatment for each person.

During her leisure time, Sommer enjoys spending time with family, going to sporting events, going camping, enjoying the beach and attending mental health conferences to enhance her therapeutic skills.
