Dermatology

Dermatology is the study and treatment of diseases of the skin. The skin is the largest organ on the human body and provides protection from the millions of bacteria and other organisms which surround us. A Dermatologist is an internal medicine physician who elected to specialize in the study of the skin.

Dermatologic conditions range from moles, lesions and warts to skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. In Southern California, dermatology most often involves screenings for or removal of skin cancers.

Dermatologists are certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and and receive additional certification within specialized areas of dermatology.
