Allergy

Allergic reactions come in all forms: skin rashes, sneezing, sniffling, coughs and headaches, just to name a few. These symptoms are a response by your immune system to irritants. An Allergist is a physician who specializes in diagnosing and treating allergies. An Allergist is an internal medicine physician who elected to specialize in diseases and conditions related to the immune system.

An allergist will need to take a comprehensive history of your health, and will want to understand your lifestyle, including the products and foods you consume. You may be prescribed medications or skin creams, and may need to change your dietary choices.  You may need to undergo specific skin testing to determine the cause of your allergies in order to provide a long-term plan for management of your allergies.

Allergists are certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Amercian Board of Allergy & Immunology.
